Gospel to Ends of Earth by 2015?

Posted on

We’re incredibly grateful for your friendship and partnership with us in sharing the love of Jesus around the world.

As we begin the new year, we want to share a short video with you. However familiar or unfamiliar you are with the work of Campus Crusade, this will give you a brief picture of how rapidly the Lord has worked and amazingly opened doors for the gospel. Certainly we hope you’ll catch one thing: God is doing extraordinary things to complete the Great Commission!

This year could be the year. It sounds audacious to say it. And, considering all the millions of people in the world who remain unreached, it truly would take a huge, miraculous work of God to complete the Great Commission by 2015. Yet, we are closer than ever before in history!

As audacious as this prayer request is, would you join us in asking God to do it? Ask Him to give us faith to see the final doors opened for the gospel to reach the ends of the earth. There is evidence that several of these doors are opening now.

Please watch the video here and take a moment to pray. Please know your friendship and partnership motivates us in a powerful way to serve the Lord with all our might in 2014. This is our mission and our heart – along with yours.  Thank you!  Please watch:

Story of How God Provides When There Is No Way

Posted on

What happens when you see no possible way for your needs to be met even though God says “trust Me”? Our dear friend and fellow Cru staff member Gladys Hillman shares her true, amazing story.

We were privileged to serve as teammates with “Miss Gladys” for several years when we lived in Atlanta. She modeled to us a consistent life of prayer – a humble yet very bold attitude of asking God for things that only God can do. Not only asking, but also believing He will answer in an exceedingly abundant fashion.

Gladys admits her first reaction was to shy away from asking God. And she would have thought it all was possible if God had done it “her way.” Yet that is not what happened. You gotta watch this…

What’s Good About Raising Support?

There’s a list of prayer requests below. We do need prayer but mainly wanted to share with you what God has been teaching our hearts as we trust Him for financial support. As some of you may know, Shannon and I are currently in a season of trusting the Lord for a significant expansion of our financial support and base of ministry partners.

Things we are learning…

How are these similar to lessons the Lord is teaching you?

1. For the long haul, our ministry must be sustained by relationships with partners. The Lord never intended for us to serve Him alone. Partners, advocates, friends with wise counsel, prayer warriors, encouragers, people who stand shoulder to shoulder — all these are terms we’d use to describe the people of our ministry partnership team. We need partners, not just donors. And we would not trade a single one of you for the world.

2. It’s about the heart. God is fully capable and willing to meet all our needs right this moment. Yet if we held out our hands and God miraculously were to pour down money onto our palms right now we would probably miss out on the riches He wants to pour into our hearts. Patient waiting, prayer and asking often leads us to treasure Jesus more and more. That’s what He wants. And that’s really what we need. “…and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:5

3. God by nature is generous. He also causes people to be generous. We’ve seen that people are more willing to give and share in our ministry than we are willing to believe. People give out of a heart response to Jesus and what He’s done. This is not mere philanthropy. “But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.” 2 Corinth 8:2b

PRAY FOR….

  • Our hearts to grow deeper in Jesus, seeking His face during this time.
  • Us to be a blessing to ministry partners and potential ministry partners.
  • We’re asking the Lord for at least $450 per month in new monthly commitments before Christmas and triple that amount in early 2014.
  • PRAISE for several partners who have recently increased their giving and for at least 6 new partners joining our team this month

Behind the Mask

View this photo and check out the story of Ted Barrett in action. Ted is a major league umpire who loves Christ. What’s it like to be a major league baseball umpire? If you’ve been following the excitement of the World Series – especially Saturday night’s game-deciding rare call by an umpire – you should love this story. Even if you don’t watch baseball, you can still probably relate to the human tendency to “wear the mask” or hide behind a veneer of performance, appearance and staying on top of your game. Following Jesus allows us all freedom to truly live beyond the mask.

Ted Barrett is an umpire crew chief – one of only 17 in the major leagues. He follows Christ with a passion. As a college student athlete over 25 years ago, Ted started to become grounded in the Word through the help of staff and students involved with Cru. Today he has a huge influence over other umpires in the major and minor leagues.

Praise the Lord for His work in Ted’s life. You’ll enjoy his story – written for WorldWide Challenge magazine by Avery and Addison’s piano teacher, Mrs. Amber Wiley, who is also a Cru staff member and talented writer.
