Seeing is Believing: New JesusFilm App

Posted on

This is truly an incredible opportunity.  We’re soooooo humbled and grateful for your prayers and support which enable us to help in the distribution of this new ministry tool:

A great new mobile app with Jesus Film clips - great for sharing

As you may know, The Jesus Film is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ International.  For millions who have seen Jesus through films or online media produced by The Jesus Film, literally seeing Jesus in their own language leads to believing in Him. Now there is a new JesusFilm mobile app for iPhone and Android. Learn more and download the app for your phone or iPad tablet here:  JesusFilmMedia.org

We’re so excited about the potential for this app to touch millions more people that David made an amateur video giving you a preview of what it does and how it works.  Take a look as I give a very quick “demo” here:

Math, Orbits and God’s Glory

Avery made this cool board for her Kepler math project

If the fact that the Lord created billions of stars is not enough, it’s even more astounding to me that comets, planets and celestial objects all move at incredible speeds yet their orbits are very precise. Nothing moves beyond its bounds and all planets have a unique, but highly predictible, motion around the Sun.

Orbital mechanics is an amazing study. It reminds me how intricately God has designed the universe and how small we are compared to Him. As part of a recent math project, Avery created this felt board as a demonstration (see photo here). It briefly explains the 3 Laws of Planetary Motion which good ol’ Johannes Kepler discovered through his studies in the early 1600’s.

As Avery did her research, I learned that Kepler held deep convictions that God created the universe according to an intelligible plan.

Check out this NASA video which draws out the fact that Kepler made these revolutionary discoveries simply by studying mathematical charts of observed locations of the planets. He basically used no telescope!

The foundations of Newtonian physics came largely from Kepler’s formulated equations. Even if you’re not a science buff, you’ll find this fascinating:

Tomas from Slovakia
Tomas from Slovakia

September 1992. My feet had just touched the ground in Slovakia for a one year missions project. I had no idea then that 20 years later I would still be serving with the same outfit – now called Cru in America and Voice for Christ in Slovakia.

Really? 20 years? TWO decades??

You have made it possible. Thank you!  You have blessed us so that we could see people in many countries blessed with a Living Hope and experience a blessing from knowing them. That’s a lot of blessing. But it’s absolutely real.

Meet Tomas – who was a self proclaimed atheist when I arrived in Slovakia in 1992. Today he is a great friend as well as fellow believer and missionary with Voice for Christ in Slovakia.

Tomas shares his story in a very brief amateur video clip I captured of him when he visited with us in 2011. Watch the video below:

 Tomas 2min Intro Video

Tomas also describes the reality of being a missionary in Slovakia where it can be very challenging to depend on the Lord 100% (as we do) for his family’s financial support. See video here:

The Nations Have Faces

Milan from Slovakia
David with staff member Milan Mitana from Slovakia

Let us introduce you to some staff members from around the world. Your partnership with us in ministry is truly reaching the nations. But in doing so, did you know you were connected to some amazing people?

True ministry touches lives. His work always has a face attached to it. It’s personal.

Daniel from Romania and William from Singapore
LtoR: Daniel from Romania, David and William from Singapore

Meet Daniel from Romania (pictured on my right). Before coming to know Christ, Daniel was a member of the Communist Youth during the reign of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu in the early 80’s. Because of Daniel’s family’s “status” in the Communist Party, Daniel was on the fast track to become an officer or political figure in his country. Yet during his years in college, amidst many achievements, he felt empty. It was then he was introduced to Jesus by some American students visiting Romania on a summer missions project. Today Daniel is on staff and himself serves as a missionary – overseeing the ministry in over a dozen countries in Eastern Europe.

Similar stories could be told of William from Singapore (on my right) or Milan from Slovakia (above). Their lives were changed because the Lord used people like you to send missionaries like Shannon and I to reach them face to face. Now Daniel and William lead entire ministries with hundreds of staff who in turn reach out with the gospel one person at a time.

Oumar from Mali and A.K. from Central Asia (pictured below) both first encountered God because people like you made it possible for the Living Word (Bibles) to reach their cities in their native language – Bibles which were given to them hand to hand and face to face.

Miheret from Ethiopia grew up distanced from his father and transferred to over 5 different schools during his grade school years because he bounced around from one friend or relative’s house to another during that unstable time. But in high school Miheret met students involved in Great Commission Ethiopia (Campus Crusade’s name there) and his life was changed. Now Miheret leads a team of missionaries across all of Southern Africa.

You are a key part of these stories. Would you like to hear more?
